HISTORICAL PHOTOS AND TELEGRAMS |
||||
| In Road to Riches we strived for historical accuracy. Extensive research uncovered a wealth of photographs, newspaper articles from the time, and actual telegram copies that we were able to quote verbatim in the text of the book. Several of these historic documents are included in the book. We have obtained permission from the copyright holders to exhibit a few of them here for your enjoyment and review. | ||||

| John A. McMurtrie was the former Chief Engineer for the Denver & Rio Grande during the Palmer presidency. He left to form his own company and was responsible for track laying on the Glenwood Springs to Aspen line. | A photo of Tunnel No. 1. Note the use of rough-hewn local logs for ties. These ties were likely made at the No Name Creek Mill, which was burned down by the previous owner to protest the commandeering of the mill by the railroad. | |||
